Families Connect
Home Visiting Program

Families Connect works with refugee parents to support their children to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.  Refugee families gain the skills and knowledge to rise out of poverty and achieve long-term stability and self-sufficiency in their new community.  Families Connect has two components:

1. Community Services:  Bilingual, bicultural Family Advocates work closely with newly arrived refugee families, promoting self-sufficiency, access to health care and community resources, and family harmony.

2. English Tutoring: By necessity, survival took priority over education for many of our families.  Clients are thankful for the opportunity to rebuild their lives in the US, but often lack the English skills necessary to get a job or succeed in school.  Volunteer tutors are matched with a newly arrived refugee family to teach them survival English in their homes.  These extra hours make a significant difference to families most in need.
