The International Rescue Committee goes to crisis zones to rescue and rebuild. We bring refugees from harm to home.

Get Involved

Participate in one of our volunteer programs or create your own individual volunteer plan. Click here for a Phoenix Volunteer Application.

American Friend
As an American Friend volunteer, you will provide friendly support, review basic life skills for self-sufficiency, and share American culture and customs with a newly arrived refugee family. No special skills are needed and our American friends schedule meetings and activities directly with their families.

Family Literacy Coach
As a family literacy coach you will work one on one with a refugee family in their home helping them with English grammar and phonetics. We provide literacy materials and teaching aids.

Volunteer Event Planning Committee
Join our event committee and work with other volunteers to plan fun events for our refugees and their families. From trips to the zoo to civic learning, our committee helps refugee families explore and learn about their new community.

Intern with the IRC
Our interns perform a number of duties including helping with initial services, finding job development opportunities, involvement in public education, or advocating for awareness of refugees.
