Burmese Refugee Artist Shows in Decatur

IRC Refugee Art Show and Sale, Mingei World Arts

Beginning April 27th, Mingei World Arts in Decatur will host an exhibition and sale of paintings by refugee artist and IRC client, Mr. Min Lwin Ye.

Min Lwin Ye is an accomplished artist whose naturalistic paintings in oil and watercolor depict the people, scenes, flora and fauna of his native Burma.

Educated at the state school of fine art in Mandalay, Burma, he was resettled by IRC Atlanta in July 2007 after fleeing the rogue regime in Myanmar.

Mr. Ye purchased paint, brushes and canvas with his first IRC assistance checks last summer so that he could once again pursue his avocation. Though successfully employed fulltime as a steward at the Ritz Carlton, he paints steadily in his spare time. He was an artist participant in the 2007 Avondale Estates Autumn Fest.

You are cordially invited attend the opening of this exciting exhibit on Sunday April 27th, from 1:00—4:00 pm.

10% of all sales of regular store merchandise on the 27th will be donated to IRC Atlanta, in honor of the organization's 75 years of  humanitarian work around the world. Proceeds from the sale of Min Lwin Ye’s work go to the hard-working artist.

Mingei World Arts is located at 427 Church Street, Decatur, GA 30030.

The exhibition will continue through May 19.
