Uganda Special Report - Unimaginable Suffering

24 Aug 2006 - The longstanding civil war in Northern Uganda has shattered livelihoods, destroyed healthcare and schools and instilled a constant state of fear among the population. Over 90% of the rural population of Northern Uganda has been forced into 200 squalid, crowded, and unhealthy refugee camps. Alan Batkin and Jonathan Wiesner, co-chairs of the IRC Board of Directors, recently visited these camps and were stunned by the conditions they found.

Sign a petition demanding that the U.S. government intensify their political action to stop the violence in Uganda and support the current peace talks.

We are aiming for 10,000 signatures by October 9 when IRC staff will hand-deliver copies of the petition to members of Congress.
