Frequently Asked Questions
- What should I do before holding a fundraiser for the IRC?
- Complete and submit the Event Registration Form well in advance of your event.
- Remember to get all appropriate licenses and certifications for your event (e.g. alcohol, liability coverage, insurance, etc.) IRC may request documentation of licenses and insurance coverage.
- May I use IRC’s logo for fundraising?
- In order to use IRC’s logo, you must receive written consent from us in the form of a logo license agreement. We would need to review and approve all materials bearing our logo. Please check the appropriate box on the event registration form.
- Will IRC provide tax receipts for donations?
- We will provide tax receipts only for donations made directly to IRC (by credit card through IRC’s website or by check to the IRC).
- Can IRC provide a tax receipt for donated goods or services?
- No. Acknowledgment for tax purposes cannot be given for donated goods (e.g. items for auction) or services (e.g. donated advertisements, printing).
- Can IRC provide a mailing list of its supporters for invitation to the event?
- To protect our donors’ confidentiality, IRC does not give out its donor lists. But, we are happy to post the details of your event on our Events Calendar
- Can IRC sponsor my event?
- We cannot sponsor or solicit sponsorship for your fundraising event. Also, please let us know if you recruit underwriters/sponsors for your event to avoid conflicts with our own solicitation efforts.
- Please make sure all promotional materials state:
- that IRC is not the event sponsor but that funds are being raised by you/your organization to benefit the IRC.
- the portion of the event ticket price or proceeds that will be directed to the IRC. (If the event involves a promotion where the sale of a product will benefit IRC, please see IRC’s Guidelines for entering into a Cause Marketing Relationship.
- Can an IRC staff member participate in my event?
- We may be able to provide speakers, staff or volunteers. Please send a request at least 30 days in advance of your event.
- Can IRC provide handouts for our events?
- Sure! Just download and print from our handout materials webpage. You can reproduce as many copies as you like at any copy shop.
- Can IRC help me secure a celebrity guest for our fundraiser?
- Unfortunately, we cannot provide contacts with celebrities.
