Since 1994, IRC Salt Lake City has helped over 6,000 refugees begin new lives in Utah.
WE'VE MOVED! As of March 31, 2008 we are in a new offices located at 231 East 400 South, Suite 50. Our general phone number remains the same: 801.328.1091.
The IRC’s Salt Lake City office operates through a network of full and part-time staff and volunteers from many countries and of many ethnicities. Their wide-ranging backgrounds help bridge the cultural differences between refugees and their new communities.
The IRC works closely with the Salt Lake community to ensure that the resettlement process goes smoothly. Through partnerships with American Express, the Unitarian Church of Salt Lake, Deseret Industries, Rowland Hall-St. Mark’s and the Waterford School, the IRC employs diverse resources to assist refugees as they settle in their new communities.
In 2008, IRC Salt Lake City expects to resettle 400 refugees. Here's how you can be involved:
- Donate new or gently-used household items and appliances (please see our Donations Wish List in the documents section)
- Volunteer your time to mentor a refugee family or support educational workshops for refugees
- Give a monetary gift to support refugees in resettlement
Donations
IRC helps refugee families and individuals establish homes. The following donations are greatly needed as refugees resettle:
- dining room tables and chairs
- blankets
- household cleaning supplies, including mops and vacuums
- diapers in sizes 1, 2 and 3
- rice cookers + microwaves
